Monster Wolf robots in high demand to scare bears in Japan
Hokkaido-based Ohta Seiki builds an animatronic scarecrow with flashing red LED eyes, a head that turns side to side, and a speaker that can broadcast roughly fifty recorded sounds audible up to a kilometre away. A unit starts at about $4,000. The maker has reported a surge in orders in 2026 after Japan logged a record number of fatal bear encounters.

Türkiye issues nearly $8.6M in fines for excessive price hikes
The Unfair Price Evaluation Board imposed administrative fines totalling roughly TL 390 million on more than 1,200 businesses in 2026 for excessive price increases.
